Año tras año, el sistema operativo Android perteneciente a Google recibe de forma periódica nuevas actualizaciones que introducen mejoras tanto a nivel de interfaz como a nivel de funcionamiento en los móviles y en las tabletas.
Al parecer, el lanzamiento de esta nueva versión del sistema operativo Android se produciría de forma simultánea junto a la presentación de la tableta Nexus 8 que vendría a sustituir a la actual Nexus 7. La tableta de siete pulgadas de Google salió al mercado hace ya más de un año, por lo que resulta evidente que va siendo hora de que esta compañía estadounidense nos sorprenda con una nueva versión de una tableta que probablemente será producida por el fabricante taiwanés ASUS.
Lo más evidente sería pensar que la presentación de Android 4.5 debería producirse en la conferencia de Google I/O que este año se celebra durante el mes de junio. Dicha conferencia corresponde a un evento en el que Google suele anunciar ante los medios todas las novedades que tiene preparadas para este año. Pero, por lo que se ha podido saber a través de fuentes extra-oficiales, esta conferencia solamente servirá para que Google anuncie sus novedades sin mencionar ni la tableta Nexus 8 ni la actualización del sistema operativo Android 4.5. A partir de aquí se abre una puerta a todo tipo de especulaciones, aunque las dos opciones posibles son muy sencillas: tanto el Nexus 8 como Android 4.5 serían presentados antes de la conferencia o, en cambio, estas novedades serían presentadas después de la conferencia (muy probablemente durante el mes de julio si se diera el segundo caso).
En cuanto a los cambios que podría traer consigo la actualización de Android 4.5, lo cierto es que por ahora la información que se conoce sobre esta versión es prácticamente nula. Teniendo en cuenta que hablamos de un salto de versión que modifica el segundo dígito de la actualización (pasaremos deAndroid 4.4.2 a Android 4.5), muy seguramente veremos importantes cambios visuales, tal y como ya pasó entre las actualizaciones de Android 4.3 Jelly Bean y Android 4.4.2 KitKat. También sería interesante saber qué nombre utilizará Google para referirse a esta actualización, ya que según las denominaciones de Android utilizadas a lo largo de los últimos años, esta vez le toca a la letra “L“, la cual debería representar a algún postre en inglés que empiece precisamente por esta letra.
