El cómico canadiense Jim Carrey ha sorprendido con unas declaraciones en su propio Twitter en las que critica la violencia de su próxima película, “Kick-Ass 2”, un rodaje que tuvo lugar un mes antes del tiroteo de Newtown, que dejó 26 muertos, de los que 20 eran niños.
El popular actor, que en los últimos meses ha incrementado su campaña sobre el control de armas en Estados Unidos, escribió en la red social: “Hice 'Kick-Ass 2' un mes antes de lo ocurrido en (la escuela) Sandy Hook y ahora mi conciencia me dice que no puedo apoyar ese nivel de violencia”.
“Mis disculpas a todos los demás involucrados en la película. No me avergüenzo de ella, pero los recientes sucesos han causado un cambio en mi corazón”, añadió.
Las declaraciones de Carrey encontraron respuesta rápidamente en Mark Millar, escritor del cómic en el que se basa el filme y uno de sus productores ejecutivos, desde su propio blog.
“Estoy desconcertado por este repentino anuncio ya que no hay nada en la película que no estuviera en el guión 18 meses atrás”, sostuvo Millar. “Sí, la cantidad de muertos es muy alta, pero una película llamada 'Kick-Ass 2' realmente tiene que contener lo que dice la etiqueta”, declaró.
Asimismo, recalcó que una segunda parte que gira alrededor de la protagonista del filme original, Hit Girl, una niña que se convierte en el azote de los delincuentes, “siempre iba a tener un poco de sangre en el suelo”.
“Esto no debería ser sorprendente para un tipo que disfrutó tanto con la primera parte”, indicó Millar, quien sostuvo que siente la misma repulsión que Carrey hacia la violencia real, pero, no obstante, matizó que “Kick-Ass 2” “no es un documental”.
“Kick-Ass 2”, dirigida por Jeff Wadlow, está protagonizada por Aaron Johnson-Taylor y Chloë Grace Moretz, que dan vida a dos superhéroes tan jóvenes y terrenales como malhablados y cómicos.
