El líder opositor venezolano Henrique Capriles tiene más de 3,3 millones de seguidores en la red social Twitter, una cifra muy superior a la de todos los líderes y presidentes de la región, incluido el propio mandatario de su país Nicolás Maduro, según registros de ese portal.
Pasadas las 4 de la tarde del lunes, Capriles alcanzaba poco más de 3.348.400 seguidores, unos 15.000 más que los que tenía el domingo.
El joven gobernador del estado Miranda, que impugnó los resultados de las elecciones que perdió el pasado 14 de abril, supera por más de dos millones de seguidores al presidente Nicolás Maduro, que abrió su cuenta en marzo y en la mañana del lunes contaba con poco más de 1,1 millones de seguidores.
Capriles está muy por encima de la argentina Cristina Kirchner, que es la mandataria con más lectores en la región, con dos millones, y también la más activa en la red social.
El colombiano Juan Manuel Santos y el mexicano Enrique Peña Nieto tienen 1,8 millones, los mismos que la brasileña Dilma Rousseff, pero ésta no lo utiliza desde diciembre de 2010. El gobernante ecuatoriano Rafael Correa tiene poco más de un millón.
Otros líderes, como el expresidente mexicano Felipe Calderón o el colombiano Álvaro Uribe, le siguen a mucha distancia, con 2,4 y 2,1 millones, respectivamente.
Hasta su muerte el pasado 5 de marzo, el líder venezolano Hugo Chávez fue el presidente latinoamericano más seguido, con 4,2 millones de seguidores, utilizando su cuenta incluso para anunciar decisiones de gobierno (su último tuit es del 18 de febrero). Chávez era el segundo mandatario más seguido del mundo, después del estadounidense Barack Obama (31 millones de lectores).
Capriles, que maneja personalmente su Twitter, se apoya mucho en esta red social y creó una televisión digital que puede ser vista por internet, ante la disminución de canales de radio y televisión por los que dirigirse al país.
El líder opositor hasta ahora ha colgado casi nueve mil tuits con anuncios sobre sus movimientos.
Capriles utilizó Twitter para invitar el domingo por la noche a seguir la rueda de prensa en la que este lunes el diputado opositor Ismael García divulgó un audio sobre la presunta conspiración de líderes chavistas en Venezuela.
